The Riviere-du-Loup Airport is situated at the southwest end of the city limits, that is, about 10 kilometres from downtown Riviere-du-Loup.
It was in December 1957 that the city took possession of a piece of land situated on the territory of the town of Notre-Dame-du-Portage, so that Canada Transports could start the building of the airport. On June 2, 2003, in accordance with the national policy regarding the shutdown of airports, the Canada Transports minister assessed the shutdown of the Riviere-du-Loup Airport.
The Riviere-du-Loup Airport can receive type ATR - 42and DC - 9 planes. The width of the landing strip allows for accommodation of planes transporting up to 90 passengers.
The Riviere-du-Loup Airport is open every day of the week with the exception of December 25, January 1, and in particular conditions (Notam).
